The amazing conclusion to The Seventh Tower series.
The conclusion to my favorite series of all time.....I absolutely LOVED these books. I've read this last book many times, and I can never get bored of it.
The first time I finished the book, I was surprised at the ending, and I got all sad because I didn't have any more Seventh Tower to read. I was forced to go read "The Ragwitch", which wasn't that great after reading the Seventh Tower books.
The characters and their relationships with eachother are perfect: There's Tal, the reluctant hero, who is my personal favorite character (besides Ferek... but he's barely in the books... ^^), Milla, the violent Icecarl, Crow, the vengeful Underfolk who may not be all he seems, and many, many others.
The plotline is drawn out PERFECTLY, and the ending is awesome. Me and all my friends absolutely LOVE these books, especially this last one.
My only complaint would be the lack of romance.... a little Tal/Milla thing might have been nice... but that's just me. ^_^

I could not hope for a better conclusion to a great series. With this book the seventh tower series comes to an end. Since the last book left me with a cliff hanger ending, as did every book in the series before it, I was eager to read this one and I was not disappointed. In this book, Milla talon hand, as she has been named since she caries the talon of Danir, is still leading the icecarls in an attack against the castle so as to stop the veil from being destroyed and unleashing the spirits of Aenir into the world. As she does this Tal, his half of the violet keystone taken from him by the powers of evil, is fighting to achieve the same goal as Milla and her icecarls. Together, just as they began the journey, they must save their world from Sharrakor who dreams of controlling both the worlds. It is only here that Tal and Milla see how much they have changed since they first set out on the task, the task that turned into a quest, the quest that turned into a battle. the part in the bok that I think describes the two children best is "somehow the chosen gad almost become an icecarl, and the icecarl was almostt a chosen, both of them blending the best of their two peoples."
I am hoping that there will be another book in the series but I know that there will not be since the end of the book had a note of finality about it that cannot be mistaken. This book was as enjoyable as all the others in the series and, even if it is the end of a series it is not the end of garth Nix's writting and I am looking forwards to reading more from him.

Keystone Canoeing: A Guide to Canoeable Water of Eastern Pennsylvania

an essential book for pennsylvania paddlersThis is an essential book for anyone planning to paddle Pennsylvania's rivers. It literally describes EVERY river, stream, or creek in Pennsylvania and gives a nice description and overview of each. In addition there are great maps and descriptions of put-in and take-out points as well as parking areas. He also describes which USGS guages to check for each stream and at what levels the guage needs to be in order to get through without dragging. It is a little money very well spent.
A good guide.A good guide that covers everything you need to know to canoe or kayak in rivers and streams in Eastern PA. Hundreds of streams and rivers covered.

The Keystone Kid: Tales of Early Hollywood
Published in Paperback by Santa Monica Pr (November, 2001)
Average review score:

An Excellent Picture of Early HollywoodCoy Watson's story of early Hollywood provides an excellent picture of what life was like when the movies were being born. Watson is part of the famed Watson family (Dad worked for the studios and even rigged Fairbanks flying carpet and all the kids had parts in the early films - the most famous Watson is brother Bobs who appeared in Boys Town as Pee Wee and On Borrowed Time as Pud). This book lets you know how informal things were in the early days of Hollywood and how films were made before the studios were taken over by the moguls. It is a great history of early Hollywood.
For students and enthusiasts of early moviesThe Keystone Kid: Tales Of Early Hollywood is the personal autobiography and fascinating memoir of Coy Watson, Jr. Coy was Hollywood's first authentic child star, who started appearing in the popular "Keystone Cop" comedies before he could walk or talk. Black-and-white photographs add images and reminiscence to the warm, thoughtful, memories detailed on the pages. Within these pages are wonderful anecdotes of such "birth of Hollywood" greats as Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, Fatty Arbuckle, Lon Chaney, Gloria Swanson, Tom Mix, Mabel Normand, Jackie Coggan, the Keystone Cops, Mack Swain, Lillan Gish, William S. Campbell, Mack Sennett, D.W. Griffith, King Vidor, Frank Capra, and others. The Keystone Kid is enthusiastically recommended reading for students and enthusiasts of early movies, cinema history, and especially for fans of Coy Watson, Jr.

Very pleased with itI only have one comment concerning the Keystone Giant Print Edition and that is, I feel according to my needs that the margins need to be wider ( so that I can write side notes.) A wide margin edition would be a very useful tool.

Chapliniana: A Commentary on Charlie Chaplin's 81 Movies: The Keystone Films
Published in Hardcover by Indiana University Press (April, 1987)
Average review score:

essential resource for early Chaplin filimsFor Chaplin fans this book is pure joy. Prof Geduld's has created a joyful narrative of Chaplin's early filims. His insughtful comments on eliments of the filims adds texture to the filims. While originally planned to be a 3 part set, only volume 1 has been completed. I was fortunate to meet the Professor at his Indiana Univ office a few years ago and for all of the Chaplin fans I would like to thank him for this book

The Pennsylvania Gardener: All About Gardening in the Keystone State
Published in Paperback by Camino Books (July, 1999)
Average review score:

This guy knows gardensAnyone who lives in the Tri-State area would appriciate the writtings of this guy. Whether you're a novice (like me) or a green thumb. He lists all plants that grow in the area, it's practically idiot-proof for those of you just starting out, without making a mistake on planting the plant somewhere that it's won't grow so hot. I'm just starting out on one of these postage-size plots of land that builders now built new homes, and with the cost of plants as it is, it's nice this guy lists plants that will thrive in your area, dates of planting, a massive good info on soil, and good tips. He saves you a lot of headaches. Unfortunately there is a lot of good text description but no pictures of the plants to identify, if you're like me - get a simple plant encyclopedia to see whats hes talking about. Otherwise good writting, not boring to actually read it, good "layman's English" desciptions and topics.
The Violet Keystone is the unforgettable and page-turning conclusion to the Seventh Tower series by Garth Nix. I'm going to miss this series very much, as it was one of the best fantasy series I have ever read. But the legend lives on.
